Happy Tuesday everyone! Oh… are Tuesdays not celebration worthy? Ok, so yesterday I had a 6k at crew practice. I knew it was coming and I was dreading it. I know that it should be viewed as just a workout… but there is something so intimidating about a 25 minute test piece. Maybe it’s just me? Anyway, I ended up doing pretty well on it. I was originally planning on bring last week’s score down by around 3 splits but I ended up bring it down 4.5 splits. All my rower readers (shout out to Aurora and Theresa!) know that 4.5 splits is quite a lot… even though I just did quite poorly on last weeks… but hey at least I brought my score down! After yesterday’s 6k, I am 1.2 splits away from my PR. I hope that I can improve next week!
Before I ramble talk about today, here are some things that I ate yesterday:
This morning was surprisingly warm. I always prepare myself for the cold as I head down stairs to let the dogs out, but today took me by surprise. It was extremely warm and humid! How strange! Chicago’s weather has been so weird this year. 60 degree weather in January is not very common here in Chitown (yes, I went there).
School was alright today, I was kind of sleepy during most of my classes. It might have been due to the gray clouds… I find storm clouds very relaxing/calming while in school. Ooohh speaking of interesting stuff at school, yesterday we had a guest speaker at our school. Our whole school gathered in the gym (we have a veeery large gym) and listened to Sister Helen Prejean speak about the death penalty. Her speech was very moving and forced us to think about our beliefs and values. Overall, I thought that she did a great job presenting the topic and talking about her book: Dead Man Walking. Have any of you ever seen the movie or read the book?
After school today I worked on homework while my brother was at crew practice. I love not having practice on Tuesdays
While on my way to pick him up, it began to pour. I find it so weird that it is raining in Chicago rather than snowing!
After picking my brother up and battling traffic, we grabbed dinner at Jason’s Deli. I loooove that place. There are so many healthy options there! Despite all of the healthy food options, I went with something not so healthy. It was super delish though
After enjoying a nice dinner with my brother (who was nice and sweaty from his 6k today), we headed home and I finished my homework. I love the feeling of finishing my homework. Sometimes I wish that I could give myself a high-five… is that possible? I guess that would be pretty weird…
How is your week going so far?
Is the weather warm by you?

Bringing down your split 4.5 seconds on a 6k is QUITE impressive my friend, MAJOR congratulations to YOU! ummm wait a second, I totally remember being so moved by Sister Helen Prejean when she came to my high school a couple years back. Catholic School and Rowing AND Food?! ahh we are just two peas in a pod

Congrats on a better 6k this week! This winter has been really weird. It should definitely not be that warm in Chicago! The high here in FL today is 86! Insane…

That sandwich looks so great! I’ve never been a big french onion soup fan, to me it tastes like broth topped with cheese haha! But that crusty bread looks wonderful.
The standout to me in this post is your dinner. The chicken sausage and avocado combo just sounds so great!
