Can you all believe that it is already February?! January has been one tiring month… but I cannot believe that it is already gone! Before you know it, it is going to be summer! Before I get started on this week’s Friday Faves, I just want to recap today.
While chatting away with my amazing friend (hey Mariana!), Mariana came up with an awesome idea. She saw a recipe on Taralynn’s blog that was light in calories and easy to make. I have seen the recipe on several blogs, but I never had the motivation to make it (there are too many things on my “to make list”). Mariana then suggested that we both make pancakes and bring them into school to taste. We would then use the recipe on Taralynn’s blog but add our own twist to it. I was more than thrilled. I was stoked!
So, this morning I got to that challenge. I made Taralynn’s pancakes and added some chocolate chips and walnuts. I was aiming for a banana bread taste… but I was extremely disappointed by the texture of the pancakes. They were flat! Don’t get me wrong, they were full of flavor… but they were sooooo flat!
Mariana was missing one of the key ingredients at home so she brought in some tasty classic pancakes. I was relieved that I could eat some good ol fluffy pancakes
After devouring the pancakes (ok so maybe I did the devouring…), we came up with another brilliant idea (we just love using our noggins!). We decided to have a weekly challenge. Each month would have a theme. This month, February, will be dedicated to breakfast recipes. Every week we will find healthy breakfast recipes and try to improve the recipe by making it taste unhealthy. What?! Yes, we are attempting the unknown. Therefore, I will be spending this week trying to improve the pancakes that I made this morning. Don’t worry, I will be sure to post our successful recipes… that is if there are any…
Practice
Today’s practice was rather difficult. Monday’s and Friday’s are our most difficult practices, so I guess I already expected it. Today’s workout was 12 x 2:30, which was alot better than 14 x 2:30 (we will be doing these soon). Although I struggled, I was able to beat last week’s 12s by 2 splits (yay me!).

Dinner
Some time after practice, my family decided to go out to a local Brazilian Steak House. I have not been there since my birthday last year (2011)… so I was pretty excited!
I was sure to fill my plate with veggies before eating a ton of meat
Friday Faves: Snack Talk
Now for the fun stuff! For this week’s Friday Faves I chose to share with you all… my favorite snacks!
1. Annie’s Bunny Grahams are amazing. They remind me of Teddy Grahams (my favorite snack since I was 5) except without all of the chemicals. I only found these a few weeks ago and I am obsesssssed. I cannot get enough of them
2. Godiva Dark Chocolate. Ever since reading about the healthy benefits of dark chocolate, I cannot get enough of it!
3.Good Greens tastes like a candy bar…. but it’s not! I am always sure to carry one in my backpack especially when I know that I have a tough day ahead of me. Who doesn’t like protein, antioxidants, and a super delish bar?!
4. Back to Nature’s Crispy Cheddar Crackers are chemical free versions of Cheese Its… except that they taste better! I was never a huge fan of Cheese Its, but these are seriously delish!
What was your favorite memory from January?
