Every year my grandma bakes Kolaches for the Holidays. This year she baked them for Thanksgiving (as usual) and so I wanted to share her recipe with you all!
Ingredients
- 1 package of cream cheese
- 2 cups of flour
- 2 cups of butter
Directions
1. Mix butter and cream cheese together until creamy
2. Pour in the flour and continue to mix
3. Sprinkle flour onto flat surface (cutting board or table)
4. Place dough onto floured surface
5. Use a rolling-pin to flatten dough
6. Use a glass to cut out cookie shapes
7. Place the cookie on a cookie sheet
8. Put jam/filling onto the tops of cookies
9. Bake for 15 minutes or so at 350 degrees
10. Let cool and serve with powdered sugar (on tops)
For those of you who never heard of these cookies, here is a quick background on them!
- Kolaches are Czech cookies
- They were originally served at weddings in Central Europe
- Kolache means “small cookie” in Macedonian
